Remember Pop Rocks? 🍬

Remember Pop Rocks? What a weird invention.

If you missed the 90s trend, Pop Rocks were (are?) a pebble-like candy that literally popped in your mouth. Kinda sweet, kind sour, they made crackling noises you could feel for a good 30 seconds.

Pop Rocks made me giggle in an uncontrollable kid-like way. How can you hold it together when your mouth is literally cracking? It was a disarming experience, which made the kid in me all the more kid. I just had to let go, embrace the pop, and enjoy the experience.

I don’t know about you, but it’s extremely hard for me to let go as an adult. The older I get the, unfortunately, more stodgy I’ve become.

I’m set in my ways, easily stressed, and more distracted than present.

I have to remember to be silly and let loose. And when I do? It’s the best part of the week.

Life is as serious as we make it. And life is a whole lot more fun when it’s less serious.

Focused on your yoga pants rolling during pickle ball? You forget to laugh about how bad you and your partner are.

On a mission at the mall? You miss strolling past Claire’s and remembering your first ear piercing.

Pop Rocks is the same candy in 2025 as it was in 2001. Deep down, we’re not that different either.

We’re the same person who danced on their bed and wore cheetah print with stripes - we just have to let the silly in.

My jewelry is heavily inspired by candy (especially this piece.) It’s immediately nostalgic in a way you can feel, because it emotes something inside of you that makes you feel young, fun, and free to be you.

Here’s your reminder to be silly! Because life is better when we don’t take it so seriously.

Hey, go get a bag of Pop Rocks. It might rekindle a familiar sense of glee :)

xx,

Slater
