Meet Slater Katz

Hi, I’m Slater Katz—a mixed media artist who believes in the power of perspective, play, and a little sparkle. My work is rooted in joy, nostalgia, and healing, and every piece I create is a love letter to the inner child in all of us. If you’ve ever needed a reminder that you deserve good things, you’re in the right place. This is the story of how art helped me find light in the darkest time of my life—and why I hope it can do the same for you.

At 29, I was diagnosed with breast cancer...

It changed everything. One day, I was stressing over little things like job interviews. The next, I was deciding to remove my breasts. Chemo landed me in the ER four times. I lost my hair, my energy, and at times, my hope. Some nights, I went to bed unsure if I’d wake up the next morning.

What got me through? Perspective.

I could’ve stayed in a “Why me?” spiral (and trust me, I had my moments). But every day, I fought to choose joy. I held onto the good things—my husband, our two cats, my family, my friends, a safe home. Cancer taught me that most things in life aren’t as serious as they seem, and even in the darkest times, there’s always something to be grateful for.

During treatment, art became my life raft...

Creating gave me a safe space to feel free, playful, and expressive. Now, I make joyful, nostalgic pieces to help others reconnect with that same feeling. My work is full of color, sparkle, and childhood magic—because I believe our younger selves had it right: fun was easy, and life didn’t feel so heavy.

My art is here to remind you: you deserve good things.

I hope every piece helps you smile, slow down, and remember to see the bright side. To give back, 5% of profits are donated to breast cancer causes—so we can create a better future, one bead at a time.
